Symptoms

Symptoms of NDD originate from functional disturbances in the brain. These symptoms are rarely unique to NDD---they can arise from other disorders. A child who is lacking in critical reading skills can exhibit poor reading comprehension. A child who has a headache after reading for ten minutes can exhibit poor reading comprehension. The presenting symptom is the same, the cause is not. To determine if symptoms may be from NDD, it is critical to identify situations in which the symptoms typically occur.
